When we pray, should our prayers be filled with fear and reverence for the Lord as we approach Him? Are there certain things that you just aren’t supposed to share with God? Are there things that the Lord doesn’t want to hear you talk about? Are there certain things that shouldn’t be said? Or is the Lord open for conversation about anything that’s on your mind or heart? Is He open to hearing about all the little things in your life? About how you’re slightly nervous for a job interview, not because of the interview, but because of your outfit or hair choice? Is He interested in hearing about a grade you got on a midterm, or the book you’re reading, or the fact that you had a really great (or horrible) time with your friends last weekend?

Let’s take a poll: What do you all think? Is God only concerned with the important things, like tithing and praying and righteousness and godliness and holiness and redemption and all those big words that are sometimes hard to grasp? Or does He like hearing about the little things also? The things that you want to talk about, simply because they’re on your mind, or heart? Do you have a Scripture reference to back up what you think? Those always seem to help me understand points of view more. (:

Poll begins NOW. It will end…. later at some point. (:

I think God would like to hear the little things. I think he delights in our joy just as much as he wants to hear us cry out to Him. This reminds me of something that C.S. Lewis wrote:

“God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks to us in our conscience, but shouts in our pains. It is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world.”

There is nothing wrong with sharing everything that has happened in our day. Although I know that God knows everything, I think it is important to reflect on what happened. For me this would be my “thankfuls” and “hopefuls.” He knows all that is good, because he created good and he is good. He knows the pain that we suffer, because he too had to suffer in the same. I don’t think it is a good idea to become expectant on when we should talk to God, because He is always around us. I have learned to rejoice in just that idea alone. To know that He is always ready to listen although he (again) knows everything and sees everything. I think it is important for us to see what is really important and that starts with us talking to/praying to/thanking God for everything in our lives.

Does this need to happen in a 5 hour or more prayer? unless you feel led by the Spirit to do so, then do it. “Pray without ceasing.” (1 Thess. 5:17)

I like hearing what you have to say. (:
