To be honest, camp was way better than I had expected.
And that’s even after the drama that ensued on Sunday evening, which had a big affect on the whole week.
But I was made part of the admin team — working behind the scenes, learning to appreciate all the little things the people who hang out in the Chapel do all day. I sharpened about +100 pencils on an “old-fashioned” sharpener attached to the wall), and cut up about 180 little poster board cards and wrote numbers on them and drew pictures of bombs for “Capture the Flag – Stratego.” And I helped set up slip n’ slides, twice, for Steal the Bacon and slip n’ slide fun this afternoon. I picked up trash, I stacked chairs (with help), I swept the wooden chapel floor (again, not by myself), and whatever else it was that the dean for the week needed me to do. I liked it.
As a matter of fact, I really liked it. And, if gave me time to gear up for this next week of camp where I’m actually a counselor. My heart is happy that I’ll be counseling, and it’s even happier that I get to counsel alongside my best friend and roommate. So, this is going to be a very good, very exciting week of camp. I can already tell.
But, this week was great. We had four baptisms this afternoon, and there are about 15 kids total who made decisions this week — decisions to be baptized, or to rededicate their lives to Christ, and maybe even a few who decided to go into ministry of some sort.
Also, our kids showed love like never before that I’ve seen, and they donated over $600 for this week’s missionary, my good friend Jeremy. God is going to do BIG things through Jeremy while he’s gone out of the country. (:
I can’t think anymore. More later, tonight or tomorrow morning.
Love.
I like hearing what you have to say. (:
