Well. Here I am, sitting in my parent’s home on the living room couch, with my sister and two of our neighbors in the background, and Shrek playing on the tv screen. This is what the end of my Thanksgiving break looks like, and I’m really very okay with that. I realize I didn’t post anything while I was in St. Augustine, and that’s probably because I had limited access to the computer (though, I probably wouldn’t have posted anyways. I’m horrible when it comes to posting legitimate, worth-while things). So, this post is basically to catch all you yuppies up about my week. It probably won’t have any intellectual value, so if that’s what you’re looking for… oh well.
Well, Sunday night I headed out to St. Aug after a weekend of dog sitting for Allison and Jeff. The weekend was sort of frustrating, since I was driving everywhere and a full tank of gas was pretty much depleted within a total of four days. The gas tank wasn’t really the frustrating part, just the driving this way and that was. I had taken on a shift at a different Arby’s location which was about twenty extra minutes of driving, and I wasn’t even sure of where it was located. THAT was frustrating. Also frustrating was that directly after that shift on Saturday, I had to drive all the way out to Kenansville/St. Cloud, I guess, to go help set up some things for the next morning at church. That was about an hours worth of driving. Sigh. And then on Sunday I drove out to church again, then back to the house to spend some more time reading/hanging out with the pups (who are pretty adorable, I guess), then back to the school. Megan and I grabbed some lunner (lunch and dinner) and then off I went to the Pirate Haus Inn. That was my Sunday night, just sitting hanging out in the Pirate Haus, reading the book Allison lent me.
*Side note to Allison: I loved the book. It spoke to my heart in more ways than one. More on that later. (;
Monday consisted mainly of a lot of walking. I’m a fan of walking, so that was alright. My morning started off with some pancakes, a few cups of black coffee, and some wandering around Saint George Street. I was a little put off by how many stores there are on that street that have products that aren’t fairtrade, though I did happen across the store Go Fish which boasts a lot of fairtrade products. Some of their fillers, though, like shoes, aren’t fairtrade. I also found a little baby boutique, which heaven help me I can’t remember the name of, and found some super cute things for Baby T, Allison and Jeff’s soon to be son. (: Anyways, after tramping around Saint George Street, I headed down to the waterfront and hiked across the bridge to Anastasia Island and started walking towards the lighthouse. On my way there, I stopped off at this cute little music shop called Grampa’s Music. Inside, I bought my very first harmonica! It’s in the key of B flat, so that’s sort of lame, but I figure it was only six dollars and I can always buy one in the key of C after I learn, generally, my way around the thing. I’m optimistic. Also on Monday night, I headed over to my friend Karle’s school where she teaches and hung out for her 1st grader’s Thanksgiving play. It was pretty silly and fantastic, and the “pilgrim women” when called on all exclaimed “mercy me!” in their little high-pitched voices. Super cute. After the program, I followed Karle over to her apartment to drink coffee and eat snacky cake stuffs with her and her husband and siblings. It was wonderful.
Tuesday started off with pancakes again. SO good. I also spent some time talking with a woman named Stella, who is pretty wonderful and I’m sad I never got a chance to give her a proper goodbye. Anyways, Tuesday I went and sat outside at the Casa Monica Hotel, or whatever it’s called, on Cordova and King Street. It was nice, just sitting at a table and reading. Then, I wandered on into Second Read Books and shopped around a little (spending more money that I ought to) while waiting for a good friend, Kelly-Ann, to pick me up so we could hang out. We went to lunch, and drove to Villano Beach for a few minutes, and then we spent some time wandering up and down this street filled to the brim with antique shops. (: It was so wonderful to just look around in the shops and spend time getting to know Kelly-Ann better. She is a wonderful woman, and I am thankful for getting to spend some time with her. I like her, and I want to know her better. There are some people that you meet in your life and you just know that you would like to be friends with them. Kelly-Ann is one of those people. Weird, but true. Kelly-Ann, if you’re reading this… HEY! (: So, after I spent time with Kelly-Ann, I headed back over to Karle’s school to help her with her classroom in regards to decorating and de-decorating. It was pretty nice. (: Then afterwards Karle and I went to dinner with her family, and I got to meet her grandparents. Let’s be honest, I love that family a lot. Anyways… also on this night, I spent the night at Karle’s apartment. The Pirate Haus was wonderful, but it was good to save $20 and spend some time with people I hadn’t seen in quite a while. (:
Wednesday was a little bit more relaxed. Ryan came down from Jacksonville to visit, and we ate at Chick-fil-a. After Chick, we went our separate ways. It was really good talking time, and I missed Ryan a lot. So that sort of quality time really was good for me. Ryan is great. He’s one of those friends I can go months without talking to, and we can pick up right where we left off. He’s fantastic. (: After that, I just headed home to my parent’s house, and so here I am. Only now I’m watching this guy. We’re at the part where those dumb giant toy soldiers come stomping through the toy area. Also, I’m really glad Santa falls in love with that lady. She’s pretty.
So. here I am. And I don’t really remember the point of this post. I’ll probably remember after I hit ‘publish.’
See ya. (:
EDIT**
I was right. Immediately after I hit ‘publish’ I remembered what I was wanting to talk about. I’ll talk about it in another post, though, because this is certainly too long.
I like hearing what you have to say. (:
