Oh, the glories of technology. I remember when we had AOL 2.0 and had to wait 5 minutes to dial-up and connect. I remember when instant messaging was hot, and when you got AIM you were the coolest. I remember when myspace came out, and all of a sudden the world got so much smaller. I remember when Facebook hit the scene and everyone hated it. I remember when my dad downloaded Skype and called my aunts and uncles on it. The image was choppy, and the sound was terrible, but somehow it was still freaking amazing.
And today, I got to use Skype to be in class, even though I’m in Pittsburgh. Let me tell you how difficult it was to find internet this morning, and how I was five-ten minutes late for class.
First, our GPS took us the longest way around North Side/Hills(?) to find the Starbucks on McKnight Road. It was terrible. Finally, we got there, but there were so many Apple freaks in there on their iPads and macbookpros that the internet was completely soaked up and I couldn’t get any. So, not only was my battery almost dead and I wasn’t able to connect to the internet, I was late for class. So I had my babysister run down the strip mall to Bruegger’s and find out if they had free wi-fi.
THEY DO. (:
So I feverishly searched for a plug for my computer, and plopped down in a booth, and tried to Skype Kaley. It was horrible at first. I still wasn’t connecting right. THEN, I restarted Skype completely, and video called her again, and IT WORKED. IT WORKED IT WORKED IT WORKED. And then Prof. Wood said I had a big head, but not really. But I was in class in Pittsburgh, and it was fantastic.
Now to go explore the city and take photos and be awesome. I’m really great at being awesome, you know.
Peace!
I like hearing what you have to say. (:
